DISTRICT GRAND MASTER’S INSTALLATION – FEBRUARY 11, 2017
With the pomp and ceremony that befits such an occasion, Brother Rajendra R. Bhagwat, Past Master of Lodge Felicity # 1681, was formally installed as District Grand Master of Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada on February 11, 2017, having assumed the Office as at Frbruary 2nd, 2017.
Brother Charles Iain Robert Wolrige Gordon of Esslemont, The Grand Master Mason, performed an impressive and moving ceremony, during which Brother Bhagwat was obligated and installed as District Grand Master of Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada at the ballroom of the Radisson at 10:00am on the 11th February 2017. The Grand Master Mason was assisted by Brother David Begg, Grand Secretary, who also acted as Grand Director of Ceremonies for the occasion.
The Grand Master Mason also obligated and invested Brother Garth Asquith Milton Stanford as Depute District Grand Master and Brothers Umesh A. Rampersad and Samuel Martin as Substitute District Grand Masters as well as Commissioned Office-bearers, Brother Warren Sookdar as District Grand Secretary and Brother Martin Hatem as District Grand Chaplain.
The Grand Master Mason afterwards conferred Grand Honors of Senior Grand Warden on Brother Adrian Carlton Franklin and that of Junior Grand Warden on Brother Rajendra R. Bhagwat. Grand Honour was also conferred on Brother Ruben Mc Sween as Honorary Grand Assistant Director of Ceremonies.
The Installation Ceremony, and the events associated with it, which had been organized by an installation team, headed by Brother Bhagwat, was exceedingly well attended by Brethren from all branches of Masonry in Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada as well as by a very significant number of visitors from abroad.
There were approximately thirty-four (34) visitors from outside of the District, including: four (4) from Jamaica, nineteen (19) from Barbados, four (4) from Guyana and seven (7) from the Bahamas.
The cocktail party which was held on Friday 10th February was a delightful affair that was very well organized, well-attended, and a grand time was had by all. The Banquet which followed the installation meeting on Saturday 11th was a very memorable occasion with excellent attendance from Brethren, their spouses and friends.
The District Grand Master and his team received high praise from the Grand Master Mason for all the excellent arrangements associated with Brother Bhagwat’s installation.
The District Grand Master accompanied by impressive Deputations from Office-bearers and Brethren of the District, also attended the Installation Ceremonies of the District Grand Masters of Jamaica which took place on February 3rd, 2017; and Guyana on February 18th, 2017. As well, the District Grand Master attended the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the District Grand Lodge of Barbados and led an official visit to Lodge Saint Andrew in Grenada where the Grand Master Mason’s Deputation, as well as a Deputation from the District Grand Lodge of Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada, witnessed the Initiation Ceremony of a Lewis, the son of the Secretary of Lodge Saint Andrew #1794, on February 15, 2017.
